How coaching works

There might be a goal, there might just be a gut feeling that something needs to change. You are wary to follow your instincts worrying that by doing so will increase your sense of insecurity

Through constructive discussion, challenging your views, reframing your possibilities positive change WILL happen.

I help to move you from not knowing to knowing. To Being open to your inner voice. To being the authentic you and to feel glad that you are, not trapped or miserable.

There is always, always, something you can change, start doing that will lift the fog, help you wake without that deadening feeling of greyness or tension in the stomach. There may be butterflies of anticipation and a sense of challenge but not dread.

I promise you coaching works. It is in many ways simple. It is the doing that requires commitment. Once you can open the door the rest will follow as long as you believe it and trust yourself.

Why Narrative Coaching?

Storytelling is a really enabling way to look at life, examine and change it. Your brain is attached to negatives, its main aim to keep you safe.
By regarding your life from a distance, the emotional impact is reduced.
You are not making up the story. You can re-member. Find positives you may have forgotten. Stepping out, reframing, stepping back in with new perspectives.

A combination of pragmatic determination and supporting holistic work is a powerful mix. Anything which helps you keep believing in yourself, stop being pushed off the path by doubts. You have to start somewhere. You don’t need to upend your life to start making change. You are in control of this process from start to finish. I find hidden doors, open windows, clear away the debris.

Act 1 Who? DEFINE

What is the situation now?

Get to know yourself better and be glad and proud of what you have done to get to today.
Send away that persistent impostor syndrome voice
Stepping forward and away from that voice to discuss your drivers, the things you love, the things you don’t love, your values.
What you want in your life and what you don’t.
What holds you back or frustrates you.
Build a pile of resources that are useful and give the big heave-ho to the ones that do nothing to help.

Act 2 Why? DEVELOP

What would you like to happen in your life?

Work on what you want to happen and how to start on that path of possibilities.
Learn how to change the way you think to make what you want to feel real and test it out.
Hold yourself accountable.
You can do anything you want.
Bring your desired outcome to life.
Imagine, try out different scenarios.
Write different plotlines until you find the one that works best.
Learn to believe this is real.

Act 3 How? DELIVER

Live the change

Using strategies that work for you in keeping your focus and optimism, start to make the change that makes you feel in control and believe that all things can be possible
Use the abilities you now recognise you already have to enable change. Without fearing the consequences.
Ignore the ‘What If…? ‘ the ‘I can’t because…’, the ‘I will when…’. Start!
You will have strategies to call on, to keep moving on and to dispel the negative inner voice, having given space to your onside collaborator instead.
